Drug Interventions Programme
The Norfolk Drug Interventions Programme (DIP) is funded by the Home Office to reduce drug related crime. It brings together Criminal Justice Interventions such as The Matthew Project's Community Justice Team, CARATS (Prison drugs workers), Prolific and Other Priority Offender Schemes and Probation.
DIP will work with anyone who is over 18, usually living in Norfolk and whose drug use has led to offending (in practice this will normally be Class A).
Through care and aftercare is delivered from arrest to post prison release by DIP providing:
- Assessment of drug misuse and related needs
- Referral into dedicated clinical treatment (for prescribing and general health needs) and other related services
- Advice on harm reduction and relapse prevention
- Prison in-reach
- Overall care co-ordination
- Access to a 24/7 helpline
BUT most of all the workers will support people to achieve their goals and achieve recovery.
People can be referred by our team at the Matthew Project or through the DIP Single Point of Contact (SPOC).
