Tandem Skydive in Support of The Matthew Project

Following on from a successful tandem skydive event in June 2013, we are planning a Charity Tandem Skydive event at UK Parachuting in Beccles for Saturday 17th May 2014, with the aim of having a minimum of 30 people taking part in this our 30th Birthday year.

Sharon Hulbert, Media and Fundraising Manager, captured on film, said, "I couldn't ask others to do something that I wasn't prepared to do myself, so to prove what a great experience doing a tandem skydive can be, I was filmed doing my jump."

First to agree was our Patron, The Bishop of Norwich, who along with his wife, is keen to support the charity in this way.

To take part you just need to raise a minimum of £300 in sponsorship, £100 of which will come to the charity. Full details are on the UK Parachuting website www.ukparachuting.co.uk

Please support the Bishop of Norwich Rt Revd Graham James in supporting the Matthew Project

"Christians have often spoken about taking a "leap of faith''. I'm doing so in a tandem sky dive next May as patron of the Matthew Project. It's the Matthew Project's 30th birthday. When I came to Norwich 14 years ago it was one of the first local organisations to ask me to become its patron. Its care for all those affected by drug and alcohol misuse has been a model of social action inspired by Christian principles. The people who work for the Matthew Project take lots of leaps of faith for their clients and their families. It's the least I can do to take a leap of faith in solidarity with them - and, I hope, to raise some money too. And my wife is joining me in the air as well!"

We have recruited the following key local businesspeople to take part in the tandem skydive:

Bob Rose, Larking Gowen
Mark Jeffries, Mills & Reeve
Robert Chalmers, Ashton KCJ
Henry & Ski Cator

  • A telephone helpline for everyone within Norfolk & Suffolk who need support or have questions on drugs and alcohol.
  • Dynamic education so young people understand the risks of drugs and alcohol.
  • Free, confidential help.
  • Honest, accurate and appropriate information.
  • Support for parents and families of drug or alcohol users.
