Coping with misuse workshops in Gt Yarmouth and Swaffham

A series of workshops for parents and carers of young people with alcohol or drugs misuse problems will be offered by the Matthew Project Under18 Service in Great Yarmouth and Swaffham.

The aims of the workshops include giving practical information around drugs and alcohol, strategies for coping with challenging behaviour and ideas for more effective communication between parents and their children.

"We also hope to support participants in increasing their own self-awareness and resilience,'' said lead worker Mel Wheeler, who has set up the workshops with counsellor Annie Green-Armytage.

"These workshops follow on from 2 successful groups held in Norwich, we want to offer support with what can be very challenging situations.''
