Outside The Wire at Carrow Road

Outside the Wire were kindly invited by Aviva to hold a football match on the Norwich City, Carrow Road, pitch on 5 June 2014. Teams of enthusiastic players were made up from Outside the Wire service users, Matthew Project staff and members of the North Walsham Round Table. The event was attended by Lady Dannatt, Norfolk High Sheriff, who spoke with service users about their experiences. The match progressed with Outside the Wire team trailing, but after a tough fight back the 90 minute game ended 10-10. A penalty shoot out then culminated in the Outside the Wire team winning. Andy Wicks, Manager of Outside the Wire, said "I am very proud of everyone today. These guys have had their own particular battles and they have come together with the camaraderie that the forces spirit and veterans will always have. This for some has been a challenge; however, in just a short 90 minute game they have made great strides in their own personal development.'' Thanks are given to Aviva, Norwich City Football Club and Lady Dannatt for their support of this event.
