Britannia Veterans' Centre Celebrate their Launch

The Matthew Project's veterans' service, Outside the Wire, were thrilled to launch the Britannia Veterans' Centre in partnership with other local veterans services.

Outside the Wire, along with Walking with the Wounded and The Walnut Tree Project, celebrated the opening of a service hub that the press have dubbed as 'game changing'.

Based next to HMP Norwich, the former base of the Royal Norfolk Regiment is now home to a network of services with the express purpose of supporting armed forces veterans and their families.

On Mustard TV, our own Andy Wicks called the centre 'An inviting place for people to come along who feel they have an issue be it alcohol, be it housing, be it mental health, where they can talk to somebody from the veteran community.' You can see the rest of the interview here, in part 2 of the broadcast.

Andy can also be heard talking about our exciting new partnership around 50 minutes into Nick Conrad's breakfast show, available to listen to here.

We're excited to see how the new centre will impact the lives of those struggling with and affected by substance misuse.

  • A telephone helpline for everyone within Norfolk & Suffolk who need support or have questions on drugs and alcohol.
  • Dynamic education so young people understand the risks of drugs and alcohol.
  • Free, confidential help.
  • Honest, accurate and appropriate information.
  • Support for parents and families of drug or alcohol users.
