On Wednesday 19th September Service Users and Staff from the Matthew Project Norwich, the Matthew Project Thetford and the Matthew Project Cromer gathered for a late Summer barbecue. This was to celebrate the awards given by The Dragons Den that each group received in March this year.

The barbecue was held in the garden of the Friends Meeting House in Norwich City centre and included live music from the Service User music group from Thetford with singing lead by Sam.

The event was truly collaborative with both Service Users and Staff involved in the organising and hosting. Shopping for 60 + guests was tackled the night before by Mary, Gail and Helen from Norwich; with more troops gathered on the day to prepare salads, lay out table and chairs and cook burgers and sausages for everyone.

Special thanks go to Don who lead in the cooking of the food. Thanks also to Nicky, Manager of Thetford who interviewed Service Users from each project, asking how their grants were being used as well as what Service Users were doing to support one another in Recovery. Gail from Norwich shared with everyone her own personal journey from addiction into Recovery, thank you to Gail for being brave enough to share her journey.

The weather, the fellowship and the food were all excellent and a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by all!

Thank you all, Graham
