What help is available from NRP?

Matthew Project staff deliver a range of interventions including:

  • Recovery cafes (drop-in assessment centres) providing easy access to drug and alcohol services
  • Needle exchange
  • Assessment of individual need
  • Coordination of individual recovery plans
  • One to one support
  • Group work sessions
  • Outreach services for vulnerable groups (e.g. the homeless)
  • Counselling
  • Assessments and support in Police Investigation Centres and Courts
  • Joint assessments with housing, employment and training agencies
  • Aftercare for people needing more support after their primary treatment ends
  • Support for family and friends affected by someone else's substance use
  • Access to the 24 hour helpline for advice and information about drugs or alcohol

Other NRP staff provide aspects of the above and the following:

  • Blood borne virus screening
  • Mental health liaison
  • Specialist support for pregnant women with substance misuse problems
  • Prescribing medication to enable recovery
  • Community detoxification
  • Access to inpatient detoxification and rehabilitation placements
  • Outreach services in acute hospitals
  • Volunteering and mentoring opportunities
