How much have we recycled so far?

April 2015 - latest figures show we have now recycled over 84 tonnes of plastic since the project began. Keep up the great work everyone - we are hoping to reach 100 tonnes in 2015 which will be an amazing achievement.

From January to December 2014, a total of over 38 tonnes of plastic was recycled - an increase on the previous year. A big thank you to everyone who has continued collecting plastic tops in milk cartons - this makes the transfer to Recycling Banks much easier than using plastic bags!

June 2014 - over the lifetime of the Plastic 4 Charity project, we have now collected and recycled over 50 tonnes of plastic - what an amazing contribution to a cleaner county! Our next big target is 100 tonnes! See below for how much CO2 is saved by recycling 10 tonnes of plastic!

In 2013, we recycled over 26 tonnes of plastic in the year which is a huge increase from the previous year of 2012. A huge thank you to all of our supporters who have collected tops and plastic for us in this year! Your commitment to recycling and helping the environment has been outstanding.

From April to July 2013 we recycled over 10 tonnes of plastic. Thank for your ongoing support and also for collecting bottle tops in plastic milk cartons rather than plastic bags. This has made it a lot easier when collecting bottle tops.

In the three months from January to March 2013 we recycled 13.4 tonnes of plastic - more than we did in the whole of the first 3 years of the recycling project. A big thank you to everyone who is helping with the Tops 4 Charity and Plastic 4 Charity projects.

From January to December in 2012 you helped us recycle 8,470kg (8.5 tonnes!) of plastic - an average 706kg per month which is an incredible 500% increase compared to the average at the end of 2011!

This helped raise over £650 for The Matthew Project which will go towards the delivery of services for adults and young people affected by substance misuse in Norfolk.

Since we started collecting up until the end of December 2012, we have recycled almost 10 tonnes of plastic tops, lids and caps!

10 tonnes of plastic is the weight-equivalent of over 6.2 million plastic Milk Tops, which represents around 13.9 tonnes of CO2 saved! In layman's terms this is equivalent to:

  • The volume of 8 hot air balloons!
  • The volume of 1.3 million party sized balloons!
  • The annual emissions of 5.5 cars each travelling 10,000 miles a year.

A very big thank you to everyone who has supported the scheme so far - your recycling is making a difference - keep up the great work!
