Why volunteer?
Volunteering with The Matthew Project makes a valuable contribution to the lives of adults and young people with drug and alcohol related issues and their families. Your support will make a positive difference in achieving our
vision and mission.
As a volunteer you will gain important knowledge and skills and will have the opportunity to put existing ones to use. All volunteers receive general and role-related training, as well as continuous support and supervision from Matthew Project staff. Areas covered in the training sessions include:

Young people aged between 16 and 25 can also work towards a
vinvolved award.
A wide variety of positions are available across our teams with volunteers being involved in the needle exchange and drop-in services, counselling, Youth outreach work, schools visits, club work and fundraising. Please read the role descriptions for details on specific roles:
How do I volunteer?
All applicants must complete a series of checks before being accepted as a Matthew Project volunteer. The entire application process can take up to 15 weeks to complete.

Complete and return the application form.

You will receive acknowledgement of your application and, if selected, you will be invited to interview.

Informal interview with team manager.

Complete CRB and reference checks - it can take up to six weeks for CRB disclosures to be returned.
