Parents & Carers

Who are The Matthew Project Under 18 Suffolk?

We work with young people in Suffolk who are finding their drug and/or alcohol use is becoming a problem for them or those who care about them. We have offices in Ipswich, Lowestoft and Bury, but we can see young people wherever suits them across the county - our team is made up of young people's substance misuse workers, a nurse and a counsellor - there is also access to a consultant psychiatrist. We can also offer support to parents or carers concerned about the use of a young person.

What can you access?

Advice and information about drugs and alcohol, ideas about how to support a young person you are concerned about, 1:1 support from a young person's worker and referral or signposting to other agencies that may be able to help.

Who do we share information with?

The Matthew Project offers a confidential service. We will not discuss the details of your family with anyone else without your permission unless we believe there is a risk of serious harm to someone or a serious crime is being planned or has been committed. This also means that unless we are given permission we will not be giving you any information about the things we talk about with the young person you are concerned about. Confidentiality with our clients is very important to us as it encourages positive and effective working relationships with young people. We can be trusted and we listen well.
