Unity Unity

Parents & Carers

The Matthew Project: Unity provides support to children, young people and their families as well as professionals working with them. It has workers based across the county in Kings Lynn, Great Yarmouth and Norwich and workers can visit families or young people anywhere in Norfolk.

The service has two elements,

  1. Support for young people who are misusing substances themselves and their families.
  2. Support for children, young people and their families who are affected by the misuse of others.

Young Carers, Parents and Carers can access the following support:

  • Advice and information about substances
  • Advice and information about how to support a young person using substances
  • Advice and information for a young carer about how to support a parent or family member using substances
  • 1-2-1 support from a young person's substance misuse worker or counsellor
  • Joint work with your child and a young person's substance misuse worker or counsellor
  • Referral onto other agencies that can help, including carer groups
  • The service for those affected by the substance misuse of others will provide parenting courses, enabling parents to discuss issues of substance misuse with others in a similar situation.

The Matthew Project offers a confidential service. We will not discuss the details of your family with anyone else without your permission, unless we believe there is a risk of you or someone else suffering serious harm or a serious crime is planned or has been committed.
