PRESS RELEASE

MANNINGTON OPENS IT’S DOORS TO VISTORS IN AID OF TWO WELL DESERVING CHARITIES

It has been announced this week that the John Aves Education Project (JAEP) and The Matthew Project have been given the privilege of hosting a Charity Day, which has now been running for over 40 years, at Mannington Hall in Norfolk.

Lady Walpole is kindly opening her private house and gardens to the public from 11am to 5pm on Sunday 3rd September, to help charities to raise vital funds benefiting young people both here in Norfolk and in Bethlehem.

The John Aves Education Project (www.jaep.org.uk) funds young people, who live in the Dheisheh refugee camp in Bethlehem, to continue their undergraduate studies at Al Quds and Bethlehem universities. The charity was set up in the memory of Revd Canon Dr. John Aves who died suddenly in 2004 while volunteering in Dheisheh. Over 70 students have been successfully supported to date.

The Matthew Project (www.matthewproject.org) has been helping people live fuller lives, free from drug and alcohol misuse, for almost 40 years. Their ethos is shaped by a Christian world view and is based in Norfolk.  They provide support to young people, veterans, professionals, people in recovery, and family and carers affected by substance misuse.

The day promises to be a wonderful time of fun for all the family. The 20-acre estate offers walks, trails and beautifully landscaped gardens. The 15th Century hall will also have both floors available to visit.

Activities include arts and crafts, live music, a vintage car exhibition, children’s games play area and activities, plant sales plus a fantastic range of refreshments including a BBQ and ice cream. Visitors are encouraged to bring a blanket, relax and enjoy all that the day has to offer.

When asked about this event Lady Walpole said “Although we have been holding this event for over 40 years, I still look forward to it because each one is so different. Yet the comments afterwards are so similar referring often to the lovely atmosphere – people of all ages enjoying themselves whilst helping others. It is gratifying to think we must have raised over a million pounds for local charities.”

This event is open to the public, so why not join in the fun and get along to support The John Aves Education Project and The Matthew Project so they can continue their lifesaving work.
