Three Key Event Takeaways on Resilience in the Workplace

On Friday 1st May, The Matthew Project proudly hosted another Business Breakfast at our award-winning HQ in Norwich.

Our key takeaways from Peter's talk on using lessons from recovery to build workplace resilience were:

  1. Make and maintain connections

A support system is vital for resilience. Good relationships with close family members, friends, and colleagues form the basis of your social support, and can help you reclaim hope.

  1. Try not to view crises as insurmountable problems

Sometimes, there's no avoiding stressful situations – but you can change how you respond to them.

Try looking beyond the present to the future, and see if you can envision how circumstances may be a little better.

  1. Take care of yourself

The final, and perhaps most important, takeaway from Peter's talk was simply to pay attention to your own needs.

Engage in activities that you enjoy and find relaxing to break up your working day because invariably, taking care of yourself will enable you to better cope with situations that require resilience.
