Safeguarding is a partnership of care, where everyone works together to prevent, detect, and report abuse.
The Matthew Project (“TMP”) has a clear role in this partnership recognising that the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk must always be paramount. The key message is that safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility.
TMP’s Safeguarding Policy details its commitment to safeguarding, its responsibilities and the safeguarding reporting process and governance.
TMP expects its employees, volunteers, and any contractors, sub-contractors and consultants engaged by/working with the charity to maintain certain standards of behaviour. These are detailed in its Code of Conduct. It also expects role-specific codes of conduct to be followed. These include:
· Skills for Care (for healthcare support workers).
· Ethical Framework for BACP members (Counsellors).
· The Code of Professional Conduct CIPD (for HR professionals).
· NMC Code (for nurses, midwives and nursing associates).
TMP believes that the dignity of every person must be respected and that all employees are entitled to a working environment which respects their personal dignity, and which is free from such objectionable conduct. The highest standards of conduct are required of everyone regardless of seniority.
The Dignity at Work Policy demonstrates TMP’s zero tolerance to all kinds of harassment and bullying and its intention to create and maintain a culture in which all people have the right to be treated with dignity and respect, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 and Workers’ Protection Act.
